This large, high-end residential project serves as the dream residence of a busy family of five. With two sons, and one daughter, the married couple wants a place to truly call home.
The architecture of Mercer Island residence was created from an abstraction of a waterfall. With so many nearby it seemed fitting.
The staircase that can be accessed and seen as you enter the home through the front doors leads to a large game room. This room includes all the amenities to host their weekly game nights and daily activities. Its amenities include a kitchenette, large round game table, conversation area, pool table, and a small curtained off video game/movie space.
Focal points are highly important aspects of the design of this home. The largest one being the grand double sided gas fireplace centered in the great room. The Skybell chandelier accentuates the height of the room alongside the fireplace, and lovely photographs of the nearby landscape fill in the space to ground the view. The green, white, and beige colors mimic their view to the outdoors. The view is framed beautifully with black mullioned large windows creating the sense of being engulfed by the nature surrounding them.
Bar seating is necessary for casual meals, plentiful pantry, refrigerator, and freezer space is needed for the many at home meals that will be prepared, and a lovely range serves as a focal point for cooking. Entertaining friends and extended family has also greatly impacted the design and flow of the kitchen. By creating a main cooking area separate from the storage of food, and separate from the dish washing area, multiple people can help in the kitchen at the same time. There will be no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen for this design.
The master suite offers a calm retreat for the lovely married couple. The fun fabrics and rug in this space allows the owners to feel cozy and unique along with adding acoustical privacy. Vaulted ceilings add luxuriousness, and the simple end tables add sophistication.
