This residence is the home to Kristie and Michael Parkinson along with their 4 kids. As they recently added their final addition to their family with kid #4, they realized that their current home was too small and were looking for someone to design an addition onto the residence that was both cost-effective and fit the master as well as all four kid rooms on the main level. This final design adequately checked all the boxes on their list, giving them adequate space on a beautiful property.
Working closely with Kristie Parkinson, I was able to create this wonderful kitchen that flows effortlessly and allows her to cook with minimal interruption. The abundance of counter space allows Kristie to make meals for her family while her oldest daughter who loves to bake can whip together some brownie batter without crossing paths with her mother. The pantry that is out of the way of the main cooking area and the additional small sink in the island also function to keep children out of Kristie’s direct path. While functional, this kitchen is also sustainable as Kristie, who has a degree in biology, opted to use countertops and cabinetry from the science labs of a local school being torn down, the dream of any science major.
